Ben Hutchings believes change occurs from the inside out. Since he first began working as a counselor in 2000, he has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and their families struggling with addictions and codependency, family issues (divorce/separation), abuse and neglect, along with depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues.
He graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary with his Masters in Counseling and has been the President of the Central Florida Play Therapy chapter. He and his wife Aubrey founded Open Doors Counseling Center in 2012.
He has been working with children and adolescents using play therapy techniques offering a safe place to share their difficulties, whether through talk or through play. His current focus of study is in attachment and relational bonding issues for young children and their parents. Ben has extensive training in working psychosis, bipolar, and suicidal thinking as well.
As a child who benefited from counseling himself, Ben desires to help children amidst their struggles, rather than years afterward. He enjoys restoring cars and being outdoors, especially camping and hiking in the mountains. Ben is also a licensed supervisor able to offer supervision to interns pursuing their licensure.
